Looking for the best Online ISE Measurement Option? 5 Reasons to Choose IQ SensorNet

5 Reasons Why IQ SensorNet is the Best Option for Online ISE Measurement

With its selection of online ISE (Ion-selective electrode) sensors, YSI has become an industry leader in continuous ammonium and nitrate measurement in wastewater. The AmmoLyt, NitraLyt, and VARiON sensors assist operators by providing 24/7 continuous data of ammonium and nitrate concentrations. Operators use the data from these sensors to improve their wastewater treatment process with trending, high/low alarms, or process control. Since these parameters are critical, operators want the best sensors to provide accurate and reliable data. Here are the top 5 reasons the YSI IQ SensorNet is the best choice for online ammonium and nitrate ISE measurement. (Learn more, Best Practices with Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) Sensors | Wastewater Process Monitoring).

1) Innovative Electrode Design

YSI’s electrodes are designed for maximum durability and longevity. The ion-selective membranes intended only to allow NH4+, NO3-, K+, and Cl-, are constructed with a durable soft-PVC that absorbs the required ion-sensitive substances. In addition, these membranes are protected with a stainless-steel mesh grating, guarding the membrane against solids within the process and during cleaning procedures. The reference electrode, responsible for emitting a constant reference mV signal for measurement, is built longer and with more electrolyte solution. This long reference electrode ensures it will last longer than the measuring electrodes and extend the overall operational lifetime.

2) Individually Replaceable Electrodes

Each electrode for YSI’s ISE sensors is individually replaceable. This capability gives operators the freedom to replace electrodes as needed, saving money and increasing flexibility. Cartridge-style requires all electrodes to be replaced simultaneously, meaning if you have an issue with one electrode, you must replace them all. (Learn more, Changing ISE Electrodes).

3) Extended Electrode and Sensor Warranty

YSI includes a notable warranty with their ISE sensors and electrodes. The sensor armatures have a warranty of 2 years, the same as all IQ SensorNet sensors. Electrodes are warrantied for 12 months and have an expected operational lifetime of 18-24 months. This warranty demonstrates the longevity of the ISE sensors and the assurance they will perform.

4) Easy to Maintain

As with all online sensors, maintenance is essential for an accurate and reliable sensor. (Learn more, 6 Tips for Wastewater ISE Sensors). With YSI’s ISE sensors, cleaning, in-situ calibrations, and electrode replacement are simple and quick to perform. Manual cleaning requires only a soft-bristle brush and water. Also, automatic air-cleaning systems can reduce manual cleanings to a minimum. In-situ calibrations, or matrix adjustments, require only matching the sensor reading with a reference lab sample. Traditional calibrations with solutions are not necessary. With long-lasting electrodes, replacement is infrequent and only requires the included “VARiON Tool” to remove or install the electrodes. 5) Smart Sensor Technology

The AmmoLyt, NitraLyt, and VARiON are a part of the IQ SensorNet family of digital sensors. The IQ controller automatically recognizes the sensors and electrodes, and measurements begin immediately after connecting, meaning startup is painless. The sensors themselves have self-diagnostics, in which the drift of the electrodes is monitored during each routine in-situ calibration. Near the end of an electrode's lifetime, the sensor will alert operators when the electrode has drifted too far and requires replacement. All of the benefits above help operators get exceptional ammonium and nitrate data for their facility and show why YSI ISE sensors are the best choice in online ISE measurement.

Do these sensors work in salt water? Waiting for your answer. Greetings.

Unfortunately, the ISE sensors will not work in salt water. They are freshwater only because the salts (ions) in the saltwater create interference in the measurement.

I would like to do similar constant to the cloud measurements of ammonia, nitrates and if possible nitrite in a much smaller 1000 gallon system for aquaculture. Do you have a simpler comparable sensor system that is less expensive system in your inventory with this same capability.
