What makes the WL705 different from other YSI water level instruments?
The WL705 is a noncontact Water level sensor that uses Ultrasonic signals to measure water depths. This particular sensor is analog instead of digital and uses 4-20mA outputs.
What applications is the WL705 best suited for
Ideal for bridges, tanks, flumes, weirs, and hydrological dams that primarily do not come in contact with vapor, foam, steam, dust, or powder.
How will I know water depth and water level detection?
The WL705 records the depth from an ultrasonic signal and then the data is recorded in a datalogger or transferred directly to your monitoring device.
What type of water depths can I read?
The WL705 can read up to 3’ 12’ and up to 48’ depending on the model.
What is the difference between ultrasonic sensors and radar level sensors.
Both sensors excel at detecting water level for bridges, tanks, flumes, weirs, and hydrological dams, but it’s the conditions within those places that make all the difference.
Ultrasonic sensors are lower cost, can have high-quality performance and longevity, however they thrive in a straightforward environment with no additional outside interferences for the sonic waves to bounce off of such as vapor, foam, steam, dust, or powder.
Radar level sensors are higher cost but have the added benefit of being able to detect water level in environments that include vapor, foam, steam, dust, or powder.
Simply put Ultrasonic sensors are best utilized where water conditions are closed and the sensor is only in contact with the water where Radar level sensors can be in open and closed environments where water particulates and inferences can be an issue.
