Field Studies & Beyond
The Eclipse Nectar Refractometer is often used in field studies on deforestation to measure nectar in flowers due to the uniquely small volume that is required of sampling (1 micro–liter). The low volume performance of this modified Eclipse refractometer is achieved by using a special prism flap which has a precision machined face enabling extremely close contact with the prism and hence a very thin film of the sample.
Please use the drop-down menu above to select either 0-50 (45-81) or 45-80 (45-82) Brix range, depending on your requirement.
Since 75 °Brix is above the saturation points of sugar solutions, it is suggested to use the Bellingham + Stanley calibration oil to reset calibration for this refractometer.
The Eclipse Advantage:
- Clear, and “easy-to-read” scales
- Smooth eyepiece adjustment
- Calibration adjustment
- Well balanced in the hand with a rubber grip
- Replaceable prism flap
- IP65 water-resistant
Select Your Scale
A selection of scale types covering a wide range of common applications is available from within the Eclipse range as well as the unique Low Volume Brix Models that are preferred by zoologists and entomologists for having the capability of measuring samples of less than 1-microlitre such as nectar.
Manufactured in the United Kingdom
The Eclipse refractometers are Made in the UK and recognized as one of the world’s most reliable and robust optical refractometers on the market today. It has been designed to offer great results whether you're new to measuring refractive index or an experienced user.
