CHICAGO, IL – (September 28, 2015) – Xylem brands YSI, OI Analytical, and MJK will feature their industry-leading process monitoring solutions at WEFTEC® 2015, instrumentation that delivers efficiencies, ease-of-use, and technological advancements with the customer in mind.

Xylem’s YSI, OI Analytical, and MJK brands will be exhibiting in booth # 1041 at WEFTEC 2015, September 28 – 30 in Chicago, IL.

The IQ SensorNet (IQSN), a flagship product for YSI, is a modular water quality system for a complete sensor network ideal for any application needs. The continuous process monitoring and control system enables a wastewater treatment plant to not only monitor every aspect of their process – from intake and pre-sedimentation to the biological tanks to the effluent – but can also tie back into the plant’s SCADA system to engage in control efficiencies as well. A single controller can link up to 20 sensors measuring different parameters, from DO and pH to ammonium, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and Nitrate/Nitrite. Monitoring even one parameter, such as pH at the inlet or at the effluent, helps a plant determine if any chemical dosing is required to meet pH requirements, or to ensure permit compliance, of the entire process.

The IQSN provides better network visibility and management, early detection of system failures, improved compliance with regulatory targets and cost savings (energy, pump/blower maintenance, chemicals and labor).

“The IQ SensorNet has been a valuable tool for wastewater facilities across the US,” says Tim Grooms, Director of Marketing for YSI, “The monitoring capability is second to none. But when tied into the SCADA system on the backend, a facility can optimize their process more than ever before. It’s a comprehensive solution that can save a plant significant time and money.”

The 9210p On-line Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer from OI Analytical is ideal for routine monitoring and regulatory compliance reporting in drinking water. The 9210p provides real-time data and visibility of natural organic matter (NOM) that reacts to form harmful disinfection by-products (DBP).

Studies indicate that the 9210p on-line TOC analyzer obtains data that is comparable and consistent with grab samples analyzed on a laboratory TOC analyzer. The 9210p utilizes a 5-point calibration making it fully compliant with U.S. EPA-approved methods 415.3 and SM 5310C. The 9210p on-line TOC analyzer is capable of providing continuous real-time TOC data that can be used for routine monitoring of TOC removal and DBP reduction.

Another significant component of the Xylem process monitoring solution is the MJK Magflux® Magnetic Flow Metering system. The Magflux flowmeters are developed for measurements in all types of conductive liquids, including wastewater and sludge. MagFlux flowmeters are manufactured in carbon steel and stainless steel for flange or wafer connection, and feature the latest microprocessor technology to ensure accurate measurements.

In addition to the online monitoring capability, the Magflux can also be used as a control mechanism, to improve plant efficiency, similar to the IQSN. Monitoring return-activated sludge rates, as an example, the MagFlux data can be input into the SCADA network, enabling the control of valves more accurately, minimizing energy usage.
