Job Description
Responsible for leading and directing all phases of new product development projects, with primary focus on small to medium sized new product development projects to support the Water Quality, Environmental Monitoring and Life Sciences product lines.  These projects will have typical development cycles of 6 to 12 months.​

Job Specifications and Work Performed

  • Develop Project Scope based on Marketing Requirements.
  • Based on Project Scope, create the Work Breakdown Structure, define and sequence project activities and estimate activity durations.
  • Develop project schedule with resource requirements via MS Project based on project activities.
  • Work with R&D Functional Managers to staff project to achieve project schedule.
  • Develop project budget based on project schedule and capital equipment requirements.
  • Execute NPD project based on the Stage-Gate approach.
  • Conduct weekly project team meetings and product development process reviews as required
  • Monitor progress of R&D projects, make resource adjustments as required
  • Develop solutions, when required, to keep development projects on schedule
  • Create and maintain a project’s technical and functional specifications
  • Coordinate the Marketing, R&D and Manufacturing activities associated with the new product development process.
  • Act as the EC (Engineering Change) point person to expedite release
  • Coordinate project team efforts for the support of, and preparation for, management reviews
  • Compile monthly R&D project reports for management review as required
  • Monitor monthly budget information for assigned projects
  • Participate in the Project Prioritization Process.
  • Participate in the development of the annual R&D plan and budget
  • Participate in revisions of the product development process
  • Provide input & feedback to the appraisal process for members of the R&D group

Required Experience    

  • BS/BA degree, minimum.  Equivalent experience may be acceptable
  • PMP Certification preferred, or commitment to achieve PMP certification during first year.
  • Knowledge of FDA 510K certification process preferred, or commitment to learn upon hire.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in product or process development
  • Must be able to demonstrate successful project management
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the product development process
  • Knowledge of the budgeting process, basic financial analysis and economic models
  • Working knowledge of MS Project
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
