Scientists Will Use YSI Portable SeaKeeper to Research Effects of Gulf Oil Spill
Aug. 30, 2010 - A scientist from the University of Alabama was awarded funding from the National Science Foundation to purchase a YSI Portable SeaKeeper, an instrument that can be loaded on a research vessel to measure the concentration of hydrocarbons, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and temperature in Mobile Bay.
New Field pH Sensor Improves Response Time and Sensor Life
June 14, 2010 - Most commercially available in situ pH sensors used for water quality monitoring are ion-selective electrodes that are highly sensitive to slight changes in the signal impedance. This makes the sensors susceptible to drift and slower to respond when deployed in cold or low ionic strength (LIS) water or when used with older equipment that has even small amounts of wear or contamination in the electrical connections.
